Blooming Newmarket

Meet the faces behind
Blooming Newmarket
Our Story
Blooming Newmarket emerged as a revitalized initiative following the legacy of the former Newmarket Gardeners and is now an officially registered non-profit in the state of New Hampshire. The Newmarket Gardeners were originally formed in 1997 by a group of public-spirited citizens who wished to improve the appearance of Newmarket’s public spaces. Their mission was to beautify the Town, to inspire pride among its citizens, and to promote greater care for the landscape, both public and private. Today, Blooming Newmarket continues this work by creating and maintaining public gardens while promoting the appreciation of the landscape.
As a completely volunteer-driven organization, we take pride in planting and maintaining public gardens throughout Newmarket, ensuring that the town remains a beautiful and welcoming place. Our annual plant sale, held in late May or early June, serves as our primary fundraiser, providing the necessary resources to purchase plants and supplies for our gardening projects.
In the interest of promoting the love of gardening and landscaping, we also present workshops and educational talks at the Newmarket Public Library, as well as donate gardening books to the library—one for the Children's Room and another for adults—each year. We provide grants to local organizations to support opportunities to learn about gardening. Previous grant recipients include the Newmarket Elementary School, the Newmarket Community Church Food Pantry Garden of Eating, and future funding considerations include the Newmarket Sunrise-Sunset Center and the Recreation Center’s Pre-School group.
